Why Does our Skin Age?
-
Did you know that your Skin Ages faster than the rest of your body? Between age, sun damage, exposure to hundreds of products and cleansers, we not just lose muscle and blood supply but our skin is like an onion- we need to peel the top layers (the epidermis) gently layer by layer to activate new cell regeneration, new collagen, new muscle tone because no matter what we try to put on top of it, your skin is too old and tired to absorb it.

Problem # 2:
-
Did you know how long the products you buy and spread on your skin have been sitting on shelves or in warehouses? From manufacturers in different countries, to the vagaries of transportation by sea, air and land, it takes a few months to get to you and your skin. By that time, the capacity for active ingredients, if any, are nil and add the volume of chemicals in the creams, and how long it sits on your own bathroom shelf, can you see its effectiveness at all?
So what is a Skin Peel?
-
There are many kinds of Skin Peels too many to list here but peeling your outer layers of skin on a regular basis produces the nutrients from your own body to not just grow new skin, but also the oxygen and muscle to plump up saggy, damaged skin, no matter what the color or hue.
What an Aestheticians can do-(Stay tuned on our next informational on what licensed Medical Practitioners can do) ...
Start with a Deep Cleansing Facial-
-
It is generally acceptable to perform steaming and extractions before a chemical peel. This sequence is a common practice during certain facial treatments to help prepare the skin for the chemical peel by removing impurities and unclogging pores. After cleansing and steaming the skin, gentle and controlled extractions can be done to remove blackheads, whiteheads, and other clogged pores. Following extractions, cleanse the skin again to remove any remaining debris and apply a toner or degreaser, such as our Peel Prep Solution, to prepare the skin for the chemical peel.
-
Chemical peels are great for exfoliating skin that has become dark due to sun exposure and thus creating a more even tone but they will not lighten your client’s natural skin tone or have a bleaching effec
-
It's important to note that while steaming and extractions can be beneficial for some clients, they may not be suitable for all skin types or conditions.
-
For clients with sensitive or reactive skin, it may be best to avoid extractions to prevent excessive irritation.
The cost of a professional skin peel typically ranges from $150 to over $1,000 per session depending heavily on the depth of the treatment, provider expertise, and geographical location.

Key Factors That Influence the Price
-
Number of Sessions: Light and medium peels rarely produce full results in one go; you will likely need 3 to 6 sessions spaced a few weeks apart.
-
Clinical Setting: Treatments performed at a specialized dermatology clinic by a medical esthetician cost more than standard day spas but offer safer outcomes and advanced medical-grade formulas.
-
Treatment Area: A full-face or neck peel costs more than a localized spot treatment targeting just under-eye circles or the chin.
WHAT TYPES OF PEEL TREATMENTS SHOULD YOU USE?
The skin on the body (arms, legs, hands, etc.) is generally much thicker than the face and will need a stronger type of peel.
-
TCA 20% can be used on fair to light skin tones to address sun damage, anti-aging, and skin texture.
-
Glycolic 70% Peels and AHA Vitamin C 70% peels for Medium to Dark skin tones
-
Salicylic 20% - 30% can be used for oily/acne skin on the body.
Keep in mind that the body may not produce as much visible peeling as the face and may take much longer to actually begin peeling following the procedure. Clients MUST commit to a series of peel treatments for best results.
To get an accurate estimate, it is best to consult directly with a licensed dermatologist who can evaluate your skin condition and construct a customized treatment plan.
